“THE RAINBOW BAMBOO Art Gallery” was created during the renovation of a former printing factory.
The interior retains a retro charm, creating a nostalgic and cozy atmosphere.
This place is one of a kind — part home garage, part small fashion shop, and part local hangout. It has that nostalgic Showa-era feel, when neighborhoods were close and family-run shops were everywhere.
The gallery shows custom sneaker paintings by the owner, Mr. Nijibayashi, along with unique bamboo art pieces, accessories, small items, and lifestyle goods created by various talented artists.
You can also get your sneakers custom painted; the paint markers are kept by the counter, giving the shop an artistic atmosphere. You can also purchase T-shirts made by Mr. Nijibayashi and other interesting items like iPhone cases, pet accessories, jewelry, and more.
Shooting Game Corner: 200 yen per round (5 shots)
At the back of the store, next to a small cafe space, there’s a display against the wall which looks decorative but is set up with things like origami and little trinkets on top of cans to shoot at with plastic rifles. The rifles are loaded with small pieces of cork, and you get five tries. Winners can get a small prize at the end. It’s a lot of fun for kids and adults!
“THE RAINBOW BAMBOO Art Gallery” is where kids and adults can have fun. It attracts many visitors, including local families, young art enthusiasts, and international tourists.
There’s also a little section of toys and fun items for kids on sale, and currently, the original printing press machine marks the space’s origins. On the one hand, it looks out of place, but on the other, it adds character to the overall atmosphere. The gear technology is quite astonishing!
Retro Café TAKIBI / Coffee Set: 500 yen
The cafe is tucked away at the back and has a partition, creating a little hideaway space to relax and chill out. It gives the feeling of hiding in a little hidden spot of a big house. You can order drinks and a few food items at a reasonable cost while relaxing on the mini sofa. The cafe space fits about four people.
The sense of community and connection among the people here is quite remarkable.
