“Cafe Smile,” which celebrated its 3rd anniversary this April, is a cozy spot where you can take a relaxing break.

The name reflects the hope that everyone who visits will leave with a smile.

Cafe Smile

The cafe offers just two meal options: Set A and Set B.

The staff members, many of whom have disabilities, are in charge of customer service.

To avoid confusion and ensure a comfortable experience for all customers, the menu is kept simple.

I think this is a great idea, especially during lunch hours, when time is limited, it’s nice not to have to overthink your choice. The simplicity helps streamline the process, allowing you to place your order and receive your meal quickly.

The story behind “Cafe Smile” is filled with heartfelt intention.

The owner, who is also a licensed nutritionist, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a limited time to live.

This life-changing moment sparked a decision to finally open the cafe she had always dreamed of.

Another inspiration was her niece, Ms. Miyu, who has Down syndrome. Since childhood, Ms. Miyu had always dreamed of working in a cafe and loved interacting with people.

However, the owner witnessed firsthand how few opportunities there were for people like Ms. Miyu to contribute to society. She wanted to help change that reality.

At Cafe Smile, staff members with disabilities take the lead in customer service, welcoming each guest with warm smiles and genuine hospitality.

As someone who visits a lot of cafes, it’s rare to find a place that carries such a powerful personal story. Learning about the owner’s journey and her motivation truly moved me.

There’s something incredibly inspiring about turning such a difficult moment into a project filled with love, purpose, and inclusion.

“Friday Meal Day” features a special menu that changes every week.

This week’s Friday Meal Day was spicy curry made with chicken and a variety of summer vegetables.

The flavor is rich and comforting. Tender chicken soaks up the slightly sweet curry sauce, and the summer vegetables add a pleasant contrast of crispiness and juiciness, and have a light, earthy taste. Each bite feels satisfying but not too heavy.

Hot Sandwich Set

The Hot Sandwich Set instantly reminded me of Italian panini: crispy on the outside, with that perfect melty cheese and juicy chicken inside! It had a comforting, familiar flavor that hit all the right notes. Simple, satisfying, and something I’d happily come back for.

The potage soup is made with plenty of vegetables and is carefully prepared the day before.

I could taste the natural sweetness and depth of flavor from the mix of green vegetables. Served alongside the main dish, it added a soothing touch that made the whole meal feel even more enjoyable.

Customer tips cover the staff’s wages.

Guests can leave their “thank you” in the tip box placed on each table.

The tips collected each day become the staff’s daily pay.

Giving a tip here isn’t just about money, it’s a way to thank the staff for their kindness and effort. It felt more meaningful than usual, like I was supporting something bigger.

That little moment added a special feeling to the visit, and honestly, it made the coffee even more enjoyable.

Ms. Miyu, the owner’s niece, has a deep love for customer service.

Ms. Miyu always seems to be doing her very best, with an attentive attitude that makes you feel genuinely cared for. It’s easy to see how much she enjoys welcoming people and creating a positive atmosphere.

Cafe Smile

Cafe Smile is a comforting space where warm moments flow and everyone can relax with a smile.

Cafe Smile is more than just a cafe; it’s a heartwarming reminder of the good in people.

The food is not only prepared with care, but also with a thoughtful, nutritional touch thanks to the owner’s background as a licensed nutritionist. The service is full of sincerity, and the atmosphere is one of genuine kindness. I left not only satisfied, but also touched. Even if you’re just in the neighborhood for a quick coffee, it’s worth stepping in, and you might leave with more than you expected!
