“Enokido Lumber,” a company with over 100 years of history, is now run by its fifth-generation owner.
Workshops are organized to allow participants to experience the beauty of wood and the enjoyment of creating things by hand.
The workshops are mainly intended for children, but adults are welcome to join too. You can make toys, home decor, wall clocks, and more, all at very affordable prices. They’re a great way to boost creativity, do some drawing, and learn how to use tools. Children not only develop new skills but also make friends and have lots of fun. Plus, they don’t take much time: most workshops last about an hour, and the more complex ones up to two. Keep an eye on their website for upcoming dates!
This hands-on, collaborative style of craftsmanship allows customers to create alongside skilled artisans. With careful guidance and helpful tips throughout the process, even beginners can feel at ease.
The sawmill is a bit outside the city. They chose this area so they could work with wood properly and freely, with plenty of space and no constraints. You can buy materials directly on site, ask for advice about your projects, and they can even accompany you when you go shopping for supplies, because in many cases, having a professional’s guidance makes all the difference.
Using a laser cutting machine, age-appropriate woodworking experiences are available for both children and adults to enjoy.
The place is equipped with a wide range of professional machines for cutting, sanding, and more. The team takes the time to explain how each one works, so you can get involved in the process and help bring your project to life. In the future, they hope to create a large shared space where anyone can come, use the machines, and work on their ideas together. And if you get hungry, there’s a bento shop right next door, so you can take your time exploring the sawmill, chatting with the staff, and enjoying a meal without having to rush.
Enokido Lumber takes a collaborative approach, working together with customers to bring their ideas to life through woodcraft. From small personal requests to large-scale corporate orders, a wide range of needs can be accommodated.
Most of their work focuses on custom orders, the kind of unique, thoughtful pieces often reflect the Japanese appreciation for everyday items that are both useful and charming. One of their specialties is crafting high-quality, oversized tables for companies, designed to seat many people and made with care, combining function, beauty, and long-lasting durability.
By making full use of off-cuts and recycled wood, the value of each material is maximized. The result is thoughtful products and services that blend seamlessly into daily life.
Services include wood processing, the development of wooden products, and made-to-order production.
The wood they use comes from high-quality trees grown in Japan.
Orders can be made in English, so if you don’t speak Japanese, and to avoid any misunderstandings, feel free to send your request in English by email or phone.
Most custom orders take about one to two weeks to complete, depending on the complexity.

The sawmill is located in the Shin-Kiba area. Ideally, it’s best to go by car, especially if you plan to take large items home, but there’s also a bus route that can get you there. There’s also a large and well-known park nearby, with a tropical greenhouse, that is worth visiting if you’re in the area.
Mr. Hirose and Mr. Omori started working here because of their love for nature, and now they also love bringing people’s ideas to life through wood. Next time you have a woodworking project in mind, let them guide you! Their experience and passion might be just what you need.
