“Xi’an Noodle House Qin Tang Ji Eitai Main Branch,” a restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Xi’an-style Chinese noodle dishes in Japan.

Although the menu includes a small selection of side dishes, the main focus is clearly on the noodles. All options are reasonably priced, however, those who are sensitive to spicy food should take note: even dishes without a chili pepper symbol—indicating they are not spicy—can still bring some real heat.
The noodles are freshly made and boiled in-house, then served quickly.
The restaurant’s signature dish features Biang Biang noodles, which are wide, hand-pulled noodles that are a specialty of Xi’an cuisine.
For each plate of Biang Biang noodles, three sets of dough are prepared and stretched by hand. It is said that the name “Biang Biang” comes from the sound these long strips of dough make when they’re slapped against the kitchen counter. It is really exciting to watch! Each one measures around seven meters in length, so the portions are definitely generous.
Youpo Noodles are served in a mixed style, where you stir the noodles together with vegetables and chashu pork before eating.
Some noodle dishes come with soup, while others don’t. Youpo Noodles are served without broth and feature a good balance of noodles, vegetables, and pork. The noodles are delicious, with a comforting, homemade flavor and a chewy texture.
The flavor is mildly spicy, with a rich, aromatic sauce.
I have to say that, even though this was supposed to be one of the non-spicy dishes, it definitely was not—and it caught me completely off guard! I cannot even imagine how spicy the dishes with three chili pepper symbols must be!
There are only a few places in Tokyo where you can find traditional Xi’an-style biang biang noodles, and Xi’an Noodle House Qin Tang Ji Eitai Main Branch is one of the most popular among them.
