“HIT Tennis School Minamisuna,” a tennis school that warmly welcomes first-timers.

With a membership, junior and adult players can use rackets and tennis shoes at no extra cost.
More than half of the registered players had never played tennis before, so many do not yet have their own equipment. Not needing to bring tennis shoes and rackets makes it easy to come and play without bringing much from home. There are also separate changing rooms for men and women.

They have a team of more than 15 coaches, ranging from young up-and-coming instructors to experienced veterans.
One of the coaches speaks English, which has attracted international students to his classes. Word has recently spread within the local expat community, and the number of foreign students has been steadily growing.

One of the most popular programs at HIT Tennis School Minamisuna is the “Beginner Course,” designed for people with no tennis experience.
Your level is not that important, and there is no pressure to be perfect—the focus is on having fun while gradually improving your skills. Classes usually have around five students, and thanks to the large courts, they can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people when there are many bookings.

Classes are available for all levels—from beginner to advanced—and are open to everyone, from juniors to seniors.
The coaches are very patient and explain each step in detail to support you, while also making the classes fun. It was my first time playing tennis, and I felt like I learned a lot in just one lesson.
The school is located on the upper terrace of a large shopping mall and is fully covered, so classes still run even on rainy days. Sessions are cancelled only in the event of official heavy rain warnings, when it may be unsafe to practice.

Since this is a tennis school where the whole family can attend, another great perk is that you can transfer make-up lessons to family members.
The school is closed only on Mondays and is open the rest of the week, from early morning (9:30 am) until late evening (later than 10 pm), offering a wide range of classes and time slots. This makes it easy to start playing tennis if you live nearby, as you can fit a class into your day and adapt it to your daily routine.

At HIT Tennis School Minamisuna, lesson make-up changes are free. You can reschedule to a different day or time, and you can complete the process online 24/7.
Also, after taking a lesson, you’ll receive 3 hours of free parking.
The courts can also be rented, allowing you to practice at your own pace, and the rental even includes tennis balls, making it very convenient.
You do not need to speak much Japanese either—the coaches will guide you every step of the way—so just show up, pick up a racket, and enjoy playing tennis!
