“Beer Stand Tsubamenosu,” a cozy spot to enjoy craft beers.

While beer is the main focus and the owner is a true beer lover who enjoys exploring many different styles, this bar is not just about beer.
There is a wide variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, making it a welcoming place for everyone.
The food menu is also extensive, with a daily changing selection, including tapas as well as hearty dishes like spaghetti, burgers, risotto, and yakisoba (Japanese stir-fried noodles).

The name “Tsubamenosu” comes from the way swallows return to the same place every year. It reflects the hope that customers will always feel welcome to come back, which is why the bar was named “Beer Stand Tsubamenosu.”
The bar attracts a wide range of customers, especially adults in their 20s, 30s, and even 40s, with a good balance of women and men. It can also be booked exclusively for groups of eight or more people. In that sense, it’s a very cozy space, with a few small tables and a counter — though it’s easy to imagine it filled with people standing, chatting, and mingling during a company party, an end-of-year celebration, or a birthday.

Potato Salad
The most popular small plate is the potato salad, as the ingredients change every day. This means that even regular customers — some of whom come in daily — never get tired of ordering it.

Miso Yaki-soba
This dish has a mild spiciness that slowly builds up.
Even though it looks small at first, the portion is surprisingly generous.
The recipe is very original, and neither my photographer colleague nor I had ever tried anything like it before.

The owner’s recommendation, The Isekadoya Beer
It has a different color from the other beers we tried and much less foam.
The flavor, aroma, and even the way it is meant to be enjoyed are different.
The owner is a true beer enthusiast with deep knowledge, and he shared tips on how to drink each type of beer to bring out its best flavor.
The impression of each beer changes depending on how you drink it, which makes it very interesting.

“Beer Stand Tsubamenosu” is a welcoming spot where you can casually drop in, even when you are alone.
One last point worth noting is that there is no table charge and smoking is not allowed, both of which are very welcome features.
In Japan, many night bars and izakayas (Japanese-style bars) charge a small seating fee, so this comes as a pleasant surprise.
Overall, it is a relaxed and comfortable place where you can enjoy good drinks and food and feel welcome from the moment you arrive.
