Located 5 minutes walk from Kiba station, Komparuyu, whose wooden structure was changed to a modern building about 30 years ago, still retains the atmosphere it had in the past.
“ Wow! This is great・・・ ” I raised my voice in spite of myself. There is a chip tiled picture modeled on one of Katsushika Hokusai’s Ukiyo-e series “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji”, “The great wave off Kanagawa”, in the men’s bathroom.
In the women’s bathroom, there is also a chip tiled picture modeled on Hokusai’s “Fine Wind, Clear Morning”, whose beauty I fell in love with. As a customer, I would want to linger in the bath longer than usual.
The hot water also is a feature of Komparuyu. In the “Bakuhanseki-buro” (bath) the natural ores in the water are filtered through specially processed ceramic material.
It is said that using the Bakuhanseki-buro enhances the effects of perspiration, blood circulation and recovery from physical exhaustion.
“The customers swear that the hot water is silky-smooth” says Mr. Kaneko, the Komparuyu owner.
So, sometimes, let’s finish work earlier than usual, and go to the bathhouse, shall we?
