Sessions are provided by a nationally licensed practitioner trained in “acupuncture,” “moxibustion,” and “anma massage”.

Ms. Takada, the owner, is known for her warm personality and attentive approach, creating a comfortable and welcoming experience for her customers.

Originally interested in traditional Eastern medicine and beauty, Ms. Takada had experienced a wide variety of treatments herself. After leaving her previous job to pursue a new career, she earned national qualifications in acupuncture, moxibustion, and anma massage therapy. Two years ago, she opened “Re.ROSE” within her daughter’s nail salon, where she now offers her sessions.

Before the treatment begins, she welcomes each client with a short anma massage, a traditional Japanese massage technique, to their entire body that focuses on rhythmic pressing and kneading movements, designed to promote relaxation and improve circulation. It is a gentle way to release tension and helps create a calm, comfortable atmosphere before the main session starts.

Facial acupuncture is a popular option for those looking to support their skincare routine and enjoy a refreshed appearance.

In Japan, appearance is often linked to overall well-being, which helps explain the popularity of facial acupuncture and other treatments. Many people pay close attention to maintaining healthy, youthful-looking skin, believing that looking good can boost confidence and contribute to a more positive state of mind.

Acupuncture in the neck is ideal for those concerned about shoulder stiffness or eye fatigue.

Acupuncture on the legs helps support the body’s overall circulation and balance. There are also acupuncture points on the legs that are said to help increase the skin’s moisture levels.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the body contains pathways through which energy flows, with specific pressure points believed to be connected to different areas and functions of the body. I had an interesting conversation with Ms. Takada about these ideas. It was my first time trying this, and while the sensation was unfamiliar, I found it surprisingly comfortable.

The session begins with cleansing, followed by a rich foaming face pack, and finishes with moisturizing care.

As with any facial treatment, the first step is to remove dirt and impurities so that the following products can be absorbed more effectively, and to hydrate the skin. The rich foaming face pack has a soft texture and a gentle, pleasant scent that makes the experience especially relaxing.

One of Re.ROSE’s unique features are its photo service, where pictures are taken before and after each session and later sent to customers via LINE.

This makes it easy to track your progress over time and see any changes more objectively. It is also a great way to decide whether the treatment is delivering the results you are looking for.

The final moisturizing step leaves your skin looking soft and hydrated.

One of the salon’s unique touches is its own technique for removing creams and face masks. Instead of simply wiping the skin, they use warm towel-wrapped rollers that are gently rolled across the face. The sensation is very pleasant, combining gentle cleansing with a light facial massage while being kind and comforting to the skin.

Re.ROSE

Re.ROSE is a private salon operating by appointment only, allowing you to relax and enjoy a special, unhurried experience without worrying about other guests.

The salon’s clientele is primarily women, most in their 30s to 50s. Men can also visit if they are invited by a regular customer, and some clients occasionally bring male friends for nail appointments. In recent years, more men have become interested in beauty treatments, and an increasing number of male customers are choosing facial acupuncture and facial sessions.

Re.ROSE

The salon’s most popular two-hour course is a luxurious session that is perfect as a well-deserved self-treat. It includes a full-body massage, from the back of the head to the soles of the feet, followed by acupuncture on the neck for those experiencing shoulder stiffness or tired eyes.

The salon operates entirely in Japanese. While translation apps can help with basic communication, they are not always reliable. If you have any medical conditions or allergies, it is a good idea to prepare that information in advance to avoid misunderstandings. Once that is taken care of, all that remains is to sit back, relax, and treat yourself.
