“Sumiyaki Wagyu KAGARIBI” is a creative restaurant that brings together “Japanese cuisine” and “yakiniku” in one unique dining experience.
At “Sumiyaki Wagyu KAGARIBI,” you can enjoy high-quality Japanese Black Wagyu and rare cuts, even if they aren’t from famous brands. With years of experience, the owner carefully selects marbled beef and cuts that are easier on the body so that you can savor wagyu at its best.
The menu includes not only simple meat dishes and set meals, but also course menus where you can try different cuts of beef in various styles. Some signature dishes are always available, while others change every month to keep things fresh. There are separate menus for lunch and dinner, plus a kids’ menu. For drinks, you’ll find cocktails, soft drinks, and a wide selection of wines, which are perfect for pairing with wagyu.
Mr. Shindo, the owner, trained for about 15 years in both yakiniku and Japanese cuisine. Drawing on that experience, he created his own unique “meat kappo” style (Japanese-style cuisine) and opened “Sumiyaki Wagyu KAGARIBI” three years ago.
Inside, there are just two small tables, but the main focus is the large central counter. Here, guests sit while the chef works behind the bar, preparing the meat right in front of them on a stone grill: what Mr. Shindo calls his “live kitchen.” He designed the restaurant so there would be no distance between chef and guest.
“Seasonal Appetizer Platter” made with fresh vegetables of the season
The selection changes depending on the time of year, offering a taste of what’s fresh. Each visit brings something a little different to enjoy.
“Grilled Japanese Black Wagyu Lean Cut with Kombu,” inspired by the traditional Kombu-jime technique (a traditional Japanese method of curing ingredients with kelp)
The steak is incredibly tender and easy to eat, yet full of flavor and not overwhelming at all. It comes with yuzu and wasabi sauces on the side so you can season it to your liking. Of course, I took the opportunity to enjoy the full experience at the counter, chatting with the chef while watching the live kitchen in action. He explained that each type of meat is cooked at a different temperature, which affects the energy your body needs to digest it. It was a truly fascinating conversation!
“Simmered Beef Tendon Stew”
This dish was rich and flavorful, with tender pieces of slow-cooked meat and finely chopped scallions adding both texture and aroma. It’s a comforting dish that pairs beautifully with a bowl of rice, or even on its own with a glass of wine.
“Sumiyaki Wagyu KAGARIBI” is very popular with international guests, thanks to its authentic Japanese atmosphere and delicious wagyu dishes!
The menu is available in English, so you can enjoy the full experience without any language barriers. Whether you’re a wagyu enthusiast or just curious to try top-quality Japanese beef, this is the perfect place to savor exceptional flavors, watch the live kitchen as the chef cooks for you, and enjoy the hospitality of a restaurant staff in Japan.
