After spending more than five years living in Florence and Milan, where she focused mainly on studying opera, she returned to Japan with a wealth of musical experience and inspiration. After getting married, she became involved in running a business hotel together with her husband. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they renovated one of the quiet private rooms inside the hotel and launched “Violetta Voice and Piano School,” where she began offering vocal and piano lessons.

The lesson room was designed to allow sound to resonate beautifully throughout the space, creating a calm, comfortable atmosphere for music. Lessons are completely private, with only one student and one piano at a time. Both piano and vocal lessons are available, and students can also combine the two if they wish.
Ms. Yamaguchi specializes in the Italian vocal technique known as “Bel Canto”.
She has a genuine love for classical music and especially loves how opera combines music, singing, and acting. I even noticed her piano-key pencil — a small detail that showed how much music is part of her daily life.
Having studied opera in Italy for many years, she can also offer valuable advice to students who are interested in studying music in Japan or abroad in the future.
At the start of every lesson, Ms. Yamaguchi takes a moment to ask how you are feeling and tailors the session to match your condition on that day.
In addition to lessons, students can rent the room at an affordable price for their own practice sessions. The lighting was carefully designed to be comfortable on the eyes while also making it easy to record videos. Because of this, some people rent the space for several hours for live streaming and other creative uses.
“Violetta Voice and Piano School” welcomes students of all ages, from children as young as four to adults.
Lessons are generally around 40 minutes long, taking into account the stamina and concentration of each student, although some end up staying for close to an hour. She can teach in Japanese and even in Italian, but honestly, when it comes to music, you do not need to master a language perfectly — the most important thing is to feel the music itself.
