Ukrainian home-style restaurant “DOMIVKA”

The name “DOMIVKA” means “home” in Ukrainian. True to its name, the restaurant makes you feel as though you have been invited into someone’s home. The restaurant’s decoration immediately gives off a strong sense of authenticity. Many of the elements used to create the atmosphere were handmade by the owners, including traditional embroidered pieces and unique decorative details. These personal touches make the place feel much more like a real Ukrainian home rather than just a themed restaurant.

The menu features a wide variety of authentic Ukrainian dishes prepared by a chef with many years of experience working in a Ukrainian restaurant. I had never really experienced Ukrainian cuisine before visiting DOMIVKA, so discovering the menu was a completely new experience for me. However, coming from an agricultural region in the south of France, I found some familiar elements, especially in the generous use of fresh vegetables and simple, traditional ingredients.

Zelenyi Borshch (Green Borshch) with Pampushky
This traditional Ukrainian soup was one of the dishes that felt the most familiar to me. Made with fresh vegetables and herbs, it reminded me of the simple and authentic flavors often found in home cooking from the south of France. Served with Pampushky, these garlic bread rolls add an extra touch of comfort to this warm and rustic dish.

Varenyky (Handmade Ukrainian Dumplings)
These handmade Ukrainian dumplings are one of those simple dishes that instantly make you understand why they are so popular. I would recommend ordering them to share at the beginning of the meal, as they are a great introduction to Ukrainian cuisine before exploring the rest of the menu.

Syrnyky (Traditional Ukrainian Cheese Pancakes)
I was pleasantly surprised to discover pancakes as part of Ukrainian cuisine. Made with fresh cheese, these small pancakes have a soft texture and a mild sweetness that makes them a great choice for dessert. A simple and comforting way to finish a meal.

Horilka (Traditional Ukrainian Spirit)
I expected this traditional Ukrainian spirit to be as strong and intense as vodka, but I was surprised by how smooth and easy to drink it was. Served chilled, Horilka is a great way to discover another part of Ukrainian culture and enjoy a different drinking tradition.

DOMIVKA’s concept is to offer guests the warm and welcoming feeling of returning home. It is a unique place in Tokyo to discover Ukrainian cuisine through traditional dishes and a warm atmosphere. Beyond the food, what makes this restaurant special is the passion behind it, with Ukrainian staff members who are always happy to share their culture and help you choose dishes based on your preferences. Whether you already know Ukrainian cuisine or are discovering it for the first time, DOMIVKA offers a great opportunity to experience flavors and traditions that are still relatively rare in Tokyo.
