“Hair Salon Kudo” is a barbershop run by the same family for four generations, with a history of more than 70 years.

Walking into the salon, I immediately noticed how traditional and welcoming it feels. Three classic barber chairs, each with its own integrated wash basin, create a setup that feels both practical and distinctly Japanese. I really like this kind of atmosphere because it has a timeless quality, far removed from the ultra-modern, minimalist salons you often find in Tokyo.

Mr. Kudo is the shop’s fourth-generation owner. He specializes in short hairstyles and fade cuts, which gradually change the length from the nape to the top and have become increasingly popular in recent years.
This time, I kept things simple and went for a short hairstyle. I usually prefer a clean, well-shaped look without spending too much time thinking about my hair. With short hair, there is little room to hide mistakes, so I could really see the careful attention to detail around the sides and back.

Unlike beauty salons, barbershops offer not only haircuts and shampooing, but also razor shaving.
One thing I particularly enjoyed was having my hair washed right at the barber station. It may seem like a small detail, but it makes the whole experience feel much more complete and relaxing. In Japan, I have always appreciated this kind of attention to each step of a haircut. It is not simply about getting your hair cut as quickly as possible, but about taking the time to make the whole experience comfortable for the customer.

They also carefully blow-dry your hair to finish.
With short hair, the finishing touches really make a difference, so I appreciated his attention to getting everything just right.

Mobile payments are also accepted.
As more people carry only their smartphones these days, I found it very convenient that “Hair Salon Kudo” accepts mobile payments. Even with more than 70 years of history, it is nice to see the salon offering services that fit modern lifestyles.

“Hair Salon Kudo” mainly serves male customers in their 40s to 60s, and in recent years, more international customers have also been visiting the shop for fade cuts.
What I liked most about my visit to Hair Salon Kudo was the feeling that this is a place built around people rather than trends. There is something reassuring about stepping into a business passed down within the same family that still has that genuine neighborhood feel. It feels like the kind of place where customers come back not just for a haircut, but for familiar faces and a personal connection.
