Established in 1926, Omiya Beef Shop is a long-established Omi beef specialty store in Tsukiji.
At the Shirakawa Store, meat is processed on-site, and customers can also purchase bento boxes and prepared meat dishes such as roast beef and char siu (roast pork).
Each hamburger patty is shaped by hand, one by one.
The current owner is the third generation of the family, making this a family business with no less than 100 years of history! And with the dedication they put into their work, I would not be surprised if they continue for many more years. His family’s meat story goes back to the Edo period, and he has incredible knowledge of both history and meat. Talking with him was fascinating and made my visit all the more special.
Custom-cut portions of char siu and roast beef are also available upon request.
Customers can register on LINE to check the menu and place orders, or order in person at the shop. This makes it especially convenient for people who work or spend time in the area. Some foreign customers who visit nearby gyms also order in advance, so they can pick up freshly prepared meat on their way home. The char siu, slowly simmered using domestically produced pork, is another popular item.
Behind the scenes, there is a large kitchen filled with refrigerators, pots, worktables, and all the tools needed to prepare and process the meat by hand. Customers cannot enter the kitchen itself, of course, but there is a small reception area at the entrance that also serves as a mini shop, making it easy to stop by and pick something up quickly.
Bento boxes, prepared dishes, sandwiches, frozen foods, and more are available for purchase.
The bento boxes change with the seasons, offering different options to suit customers’ tastes in both the warmer and colder months.
And here is a little tip: Tuesdays are Sandwich Day! The sandwich selection changes every week, so there is always something new to try.
