ADVA Kameido School combines an English school and an after-school childcare program.
ADVA Kameido School does not require students to speak only in English. Japanese can also be used when needed, allowing each student to learn in a way that suits them best.
Since a fully immersive environment can feel stressful for some learners, the school takes a more flexible approach. Classes are taught by both native English-speaking and Japanese teachers, so students can gradually build their confidence without the pressure of having to communicate in English all the time. There are also breaks between lessons, giving students time to relax and recharge before the next class.
The children are divided into classes based on their English level, and several lesson slots are available during the after-school program.
Ms. Toshiko, who lived in the US for 20 years, speaks excellent English and brings plenty of energy and enthusiasm to her teaching. Her lessons are fun, engaging, and full of activities that encourage everyone to participate. During our trial lesson, we got to learn new things, practice our English, and play educational games together. I would definitely come back for another class — the time flew by!
After the after-school program ends, ADVA offers Eiken preparation classes for elementary through high school students. These classes also include support for the written sections, helping students work toward earning their qualifications.
Getting a diploma in an official English exam can be valuable for future career opportunities or for students dreaming of going abroad to study, pursue a sport, or explore other opportunities. However, although the school also provides that type of support, their main goal is to help children develop a love for English and enjoy using it in different activities.

Most students are elementary school children who come to ADVA after school, especially between 2 pm and 6:30 pm, while their parents are still at work. More than just an after-school childcare service, ADVA is an eigo gakudō (English after-school program), where children can do homework, enjoy activities, and take English lessons as part of their daily routine.
What ADVA Kameido School values is helping children enjoy using English while also studying toward clear goals. One of the school’s key features is that students can experience both of these approaches.
Spending time with books and a whiteboard is important, but so is learning through play! During our trial lesson, we tried just a few of the many educational games available at the school. I am well past elementary school age, but I had a great time!
Additionally, ADVA offers English conversation classes for adults, mainly on weekday mornings. These classes are popular with people preparing for overseas travel or simply wanting to feel more comfortable speaking with foreigners, and some students are even in their 70s.
ADVA Kameido School also offers plenty of fun outside the classroom through seasonal events.
In addition to Christmas and Halloween activities, students can enjoy events such as skiing, barbecues, outings to sightseeing spots, and musical performances.
A small school bus is also available, making it easy to attend even if you do not live within walking distance of Kameido. With its welcoming, stress-free atmosphere, ADVA Kameido School is a great place to enjoy learning English.
