GOROCKE (rice croquettes) are the perfect snack to enjoy while strolling around Monzen-nakacho.
A two-story restaurant.
I was surprised to see that Monnakakouichi is much larger than it first appears from the outside. The second floor offers a spacious dining area that is perfect for groups looking to enjoy a more relaxed izakaya (Japanese-style pub) experience together. There is also a private karaoke room available for reservation, making it a great option for larger gatherings and celebrations.

Dinner service is fully cashless, and cash is not accepted. Cash payments are accepted for lunch dine-in and takeout orders.
This makes the payment process quick and convenient, especially during busy evening hours. Visitors planning to dine at night should make sure they have a credit card or another supported cashless payment method. Since the payment options differ depending on the time of day, it is helpful to check before visiting.

Each GOROCKE is freshly fried after you place your order.
Watching the staff prepare the GOROCKE after placing my order made it feel less like a simple takeaway and more like a small part of the izakaya experience. It is the kind of casual moment that fits perfectly with exploring Tokyo on foot!

GOROCKE “Chicken Rice”
The “Chicken Rice” was a nice surprise on the menu. Instead of a regular rice dish, they give their own twist by turning it into a fried creation. It is a simple but original idea that shows the playful side of their menu.

GOROCKE “Fukagawa-Style Clam Rice”
Fukagawa-style clam rice has been enjoyed in the Fukagawa area for generations. Here, it is prepared in an original way and served as a fried dish. It is a great way to enjoy a delicious meal while also experiencing the local food culture. As someone who loves trying dishes connected to the places I visit, this was exactly the kind of experience I was looking for.

The owner’s signature fried chicken is irresistibly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Each bite was full of flavor, making it easy to see why this is one of the restaurant’s standout dishes. It pairs perfectly with a cold drink and the relaxed izakaya atmosphere.

Homemade lemonade made with carefully selected Japanese lemons and no artificial additives.
Its refreshing balance of sweetness and acidity makes it especially enjoyable on a warm day. The natural citrus aroma gives each sip a clean and fresh taste. It is a simple drink, but the quality of the ingredients makes it feel special.

“GOROCKE” also features a limited-time special flavor that changes every month.
Overall, Monnakakouichi is a great place to experience a different side of the izakaya culture. I really liked the fact that you can enjoy their signature fried dishes as a quick takeout snack while exploring Monzen-nakacho, or sit inside and spend a relaxed evening with drinks and good food. The staff was also very welcoming and friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
