THINK” is a shop that mainly offers carefully selected vintage clothing chosen one by one by the owner, along with remade items, accessories, and original goods.

THINK

Opened in 2017, “THINK” held pop-up stores in well-known vintage clothing areas such as Shimokitazawa, Koenji, and Shibuya before opening its current shop in the Morishita, Kiyosumi-shirakawa area.

The shop’s name, “THINK,” was inspired by owner Mr. Takeda’s favorite novel, “Where the Cat Hides at Night: Think.” In the story, a cat keeps bringing home random objects, making its owners wonder where they came from. This reminded Mr. Takeda of the fun of vintage fashion — finding unique items with unknown stories behind them.

THINK

Many of “THINK”’s customers are fans of its one-of-a-kind remade items.

The store was filled with clothing influenced by Europe, but many of the pieces were unlike anything I’d ever seen before, so we ended up having a really engaging conversation. There are plenty of garments, like the one in the photo, in the traditional Tyrolean style from Austria, something truly unique that instantly reminds you of The Sound of Music or even classic Disney films like Pinocchio.

One unique feature of “THINK” is its variety of styles, which allow customers to enjoy different atmospheres and aesthetics.

Mr. Takeda studied languages at university, so he has no problem recommending clothes or outfit combinations in English if you need a bit of help. In this picture, he suggested this oversized jacket for me to wear with jeans.

THINK

Mr. Takeda, is also known for his skill in mixing dressy and rugged styles.

The store is full of little treasures, and the fun part is spending time looking for them. Usually, there’s only one piece of each kind, and you can’t choose the size. That’s why the whole concept of vintage fashion is about making you feel unique. And if you put together original combinations like these, you can be sure no one else will look quite like you.

A leather jacket is one of those items you’ll want to enjoy in the fall and winter seasons.

The shop has a fitting room and mirrors, so that you can see how the clothes look on you before buying them. Customers take their time exploring everything at their own pace, sometimes spending up to two hours checking out movie and band T-shirts, jackets, and more. And especially, they can enjoy chatting with Mr. Takeda about all sorts of things.

The shop also offers a wide variety of accessories like scarves, handkerchiefs, and rings from unique vintage designers that go perfectly with vintage clothing.

Sometimes, he organizes small events to keep things interesting so people don’t get bored seeing the same items over and over. This year marks the shop’s eighth anniversary, and he’s planning to add a gashapon machine with little gifts featuring the shop’s logo, as well as accessories and other goodies!

THINK

THINK” is a place where both vintage lovers and newcomers can discover and enjoy a new side of fashion.

THINK has many regular customers that Mr. Takeda decided to create original items — such as caps, pins, and other merchandise featuring the shop’s logo and name — which have also become very popular. Many foreigners visit the shop, including local residents and tourists staying at nearby hotels and Airbnbs.

If you’re curious, please stop by. I’m sure that exchanging stories with him will be one of the highlights of your time in Japan.
